Massimo Imazio, M.D.
Massimo Imazio, M.D. is Current Head of Cardiology at the University Hospital “Santa Maria della Misericordia” in Udine, Italy, and former contract Professor of Physiology (Department of Public Health and Paediatrics, University di Torino) and Cardiology at the Cardiology Specialty School, University of Torino, Italy. Dr. Imazio has been the principal Investigator of eight randomized controlled trials (RCTs), including the first RCTs in pericardial diseases. An important contribution of these RCTs was delineation of the role of colchicine and biological agents such as anakinra in the treatment of pericarditis. He has served as Nucleus member of the ESC Working Group of myocardial and pericardial diseases and Coordinator of the ESC 2015 Guidelines on the management of pericardial diseases.
