It’s our goal to make this recurrent/chronic pericarditis support group a private and safe space. To achieve this, we ask that participants adhere to the following Community Agreements:

Confidentiality:
● Please use discretion with the information you gather from this group. What is said in the group stays in the group. Don’t share personal details about other members of this group. All Pericarditis Alliance-affiliated posts are published through the Pericarditis Alliance’s social media. Feel free to reshare our group announcements on social media.
● As a support group member, you will be privileged with knowing the names of others in the group. Please do not seek out any information about group members or contact them outside of the group without receiving permission from them first. If you are comfortable being contacted by others feel free to express that by either stating they can send you a private message, or by sharing your contact information, in the main Zoom chat.
● We have a private Facebook page for our groups that members can choose to participate in. You are not required to participate in the Facebook group; however, if you want to, it is a good way to indicate your interest in connecting with other group members. To participate in the private Facebook group, email info@pericarditisalliance.org to make this request.
● Please refrain from taking screenshots.
● Please try to be in a private location. If this is not possible, please consider wearing headphones.

Group Participation Guidelines:
● Listen with Respect, Compassion, and Non-Judgment, and Without Interruption
● This is an Advice-Free Zone. --Unless someone asks for it or agrees to receive it.
● Strong Emotions Are Welcome.
● Self-Care During Group is Encouraged. You are not required to share in this group. --Just being present is enough.
● Please be aware of how much space you take up in a group. If you know that you often speak a lot, please leave space for others to speak. If you know that you often speak less, please try to speak a little more or consider other ways to participate, for example, through the chat function.
● It’s okay to have your screen off.
● If you don’t have a screen option, joining by phone is acceptable, too.
● If other sounds are in your vicinity, please mute your audio when you’re not speaking.
● If you need to move around with your device, please turn off your screen.
● When in breakout room discussions, please try to stay on topic or ask if there’s interest in discussing a different topic.
● Please remember that any medical advice or information that you gather from this support group should be checked out with your medical provider. This support group is not intended to be a resource for medical treatment.

These are agreements for how to be a supportive group participant. If you have concerns about following these agreements, please give us feedback by emailing info@pericarditisallaince.org. Your feedback about what works and what could be better is appreciated.

Please be advised that support group meetings will be recorded only for internal use by the Pericarditis Alliance for quality assurance.
